LC with his head on the cat pillow!

A couple of Christmases ago, a friend gave us this little pillow which has a cat on it with the words "Never go to bed alone!"
Somehow it got down on the living room floor, and when I came out from my office, there LC was with his head on it, relaxing, which is one of his best talents!
I just had to take a picture!

(And by the way, our cats never let us go to bed alone, either. Put your legs under the blanket, and they just have to be right there sitting on top of your feet and weighting the covers down!)

Winter has come again to the Rockies...

Our back yard is blanketed in white...

The bushes by the front porch are bending under the beautiful mounds of snow...

And LC knows where he would rather be!

Coral and L.C.

Here's what I saw last evening when I went to the living room. Coral was sitting in her wheelchair, and L.C. jumped up on the back of the recliner to be close to her.

When it is bedtime, Coral starts calling, "L-Seeee! L-Seee!" He comes running and jumps up on her knee for the ride to the bathroom where he gets a good session of petting and ear-rubbing before he has to get down.
He hardly fits on Coral's petite lap, but they both love this little ritual!

Cute Kitten!

One day a couple of years ago, this coat was on the floor, and the kitten found out how warm and cozy it was and just enjoyed a blissful sleep!

It used to be that every year -- sometimes more than once a year -- we had a bunch of kittens romping around in our house. What great fun it is to watch kittens scamper about, tussling with each other and swatting at imaginary playthings! The kitten thing lost a bit of its glow, though, when they clawed their way to the top of the drapes and shredded the edges of books on the shelf. And the whole scenario got real clouded and tarnished when I had to walk in the kitchen by scraping my feet along the floor so that I would not step on one of the furballs! Too much of a good thing, that's what it was.

So now all the cats have had their shave-shave, cut-cut, snip-snip, and stitch-stitch procedures and are settling into old age peacefully without any pesky kittens to keep them young.

But sometimes I miss those kittens, especially when I come across pictures like this one!

Najee

Our cat Najee thinks that everything we do has an intended purpose for her.
If we sit down, it is because we want to give her a lap to sit on. If we are vacuuming, it is because we cooked up a plot to scare her. If we are fixing dinner, it is because we think she looks hungry. If we let L.C. in from outside, it is because we knew she needed another cat to annoy. If we go to bed at night, it is because she is waiting to warm up our feet. If we lay some clothing on the bed, it is so she can have the perfect spot to shed some fur. And if we strip the bed to wash the sheets, she thinks we are giving her a wonderful big place to stretch out!

Andrea's new kitten, Professor!

To quote from Andrea's email:

"Her name is Professor and she is very playful and curious. She purrs constantly and has stayed up with me all night for two nights. She loves her feather toy and when I let her out on the deck. She is super cute, but she sheds everywhere! A great thing is that my allergies have not acted up since having her around."

What a cute kitten, and a great name for her, too! She sounds like she will be a very good-natured and friendly pet!

Trent's love of cats goes way back!

Trent's cat, Tux.
He is playing on the little shelf on the TV stand, one of his favorite places.
He is almost like a little dog. When we go over to Trent's house, he is so happy to see us and comes running out meowing to greet us with his tail held high. I think he is the best cat ever! The flash is really reflecting in his eyes here.

(Trent took this picture last night with his new Nikon Coolpix camera and sent it to me by email.)

PICTURE OF THE DAY -- 04/27/2008

We had lots and lots of pets over the years when I was growing up. Our mother wouldn't let us have a dog because she was afraid of rabies, and there was no vet where we lived in Liberia. Our cats loved us dearly, but I'm sure there were some days when they wished we would find something else to do!
