Under the covers...

Yesterday was pretty cold -- in the single digits F -- and last night the weatherman said we might get some snow. So this morning I got up with one decision to be made right away. Should Coral go to her day program or not? First I checked the outdoor thermometer... Brrrr... 4 degrees F. (minus 15 C.) I took a squint out the kitchen window and saw that quite a brisk wind was moving the evergreens. Nope. This is the whole reason why I work from home. No more sending Coral out in terrible weather. No more worrying about how to call work and say I can't come. No more stress about doing the right thing. (And, of course, wearing flannel jammies and sipping hot tea while I type!) Then it began to snow, and I could not even see the house across the field. Confirmation of my good judgment, I told myself! And Coral snoozed until late in the morning, nice and warm under the covers!

Someone else had the right idea this morning about where to stay warm...Trent took this picture and sent it to me.
He got out of bed, and when he came back, there was Tux who had made himself all cozy!

PICTURE OF THE DAY -- 06/06/2008

Tux in the window

This is the window in Trent's closet, a little extra room off his bedroom. He has his dresser sitting in front of this window, and on top of it is one of Tux's favorite places to sit. From there, he can look right out at birds in the trees and the little ducks and other wildlife living in the small reservoir beside his house. Mountain water comes down the ditch system. The reservoir to hold some of it runs right next to Trent's back yard, and he helps to manage the pump that sends it on up the hill to the big reservoir where it is used for many things. You can just imagine that this is a kitty's ideal outlook on the fascinating things of the world!

PICTURE OF THE DAY -- 05/31/2008

I have lots of pictures of Trent when he was younger and could easily fill several more weeks with them, but in the past 10 years or so, he has mastered avoiding the camera! I have lots of him from the back! But I so wanted to have something recent for today, so last night I went over to his house to visit him and had fun taking pictures of him and Tux. This is as up-to-the-minute as you will ever see!

Here they are at the deck outside his back door. I was standing in the driveway to take this picture. Tux is antsy to get down, so Trent has a good grip on him!

PICTURE OF THE DAY -- 05/06/2008

Trent's cat, Tux.
He is playing on the little shelf on the TV stand, one of his favorite places.
He is almost like a little dog. When we go over to Trent's house, he is so happy to see us and comes running out meowing to greet us with his tail held high. I think he is the best cat ever! The flash is really reflecting in his eyes here.
