PICTURE OF THE DAY -- 05/11/2008

Our family in the middle years.
This is definitely the most dressed up we got! This picture was taken when our family went to the annual missionary conference in another part of Liberia.

In honor of Mother's Day, each picture this week will be about my mother and the things she did when we were growing up.

What a beautiful picture - and what a heritage you were given!

Mama was like one of those Grace Livingstone Hill gals who could take two yards of something and 6 inches of another and 3 handspans of lace and put together a dress like the one she saw on the womanikin in the exclusive shop! I have packed away for preservation the last outfit she made for me before I left home -- a brown, pin-stripe flare skirt and vest.

I hope all of you have had a wonderful Mother's Day!

It's true, we have a wonderful heritage and are very blessed!

I want to see that brown pin-stripe skirt and vest, Carol-Ann! I wonder if I will remember them when I see them.

I remember a navy blue dress that she made for me when I was eight years old. We were coming back to Canada for a year, and she had no way to get any clothes for me. I suppose I had grown out of what I had. She took apart a dress of her own and cut it up and used the fabric to make one for me. I still remember the three little white buttons coming down from the neck for decoration! Yes, that qualifies her to be a Grace Livingstone Hill heroine for sure!
